Gardening for Beginners - Terri's Garden

*whispers quietly to self* Ok, you can do this. *takes deep breath*

Hello everyone, my name is Terri Willowheart and Dezzy has asked me to take over the gardens and share some gardening tips. Forgive me if I'm a little nervous, I'm just a little wizard and not entirely sure how I've managed to get such an honor bestowed to me. I haven't had much experience out in the spiral just yet. Most days, I prefer to sit quietly in the gardens, talking to my plants and learning the most efficient ways to get the most out of my garden with as little effort and/or energy as possible. I'm not entirely sure where to begin, I suppose right at the beginning with some basic gardening info.

Unfortunately there can be some math involved with gardening. Don't worry it isn't too complicated though. Probably the best basic advice that I can give is to know your gardening spells, how much energy they require, and always keep your energy amount in mind. If you can only have 40 energy at the most, it probably isn't wise to plant 3 large areas of plants that can be very needy. Each gardening spell for small areas require 3 energy. Each gardening spell for medium size areas require 8 energy. This means that if you have 3 plants that require ... say sunlight, for example, it would use 9 energy total if you used a small area spell on each one but only 8 energy if you used a medium spell on them. "But Terri," you say, "this is simple common sense, everyone knows this." And yes, it IS common sense and fairly obvious, but still needs to be committed to memory. It needs to be almost instinctual to you.

I can't tell you how many times I have a piggle bugging me for attention or a mount circling me as I am trying to garden, I'm on auto-pilot as I care for my garden and suddenly think, "That was stupid. I should have used a large spell instead of 2 mediums." Gardening can be boring and maybe doesn't receive your full attention or you are multi-tasking while gardening, etc. So say the following aloud - humor me. Commit it to memory until it is a no brainer.

Small area spells cost 3 energy.
Medium area spells cost 8 energy and are more efficient when more than 2 plants require attention.
Large area spells require 15 energy and are most efficient when 5 plants or more have needs.

Fitting 10 small plots into medium sized area.

Fitting 12 large plots into large sized area. You CAN also fit a medium plot in the "corners" but I like to keep things simple and only plant one type of plant in each area.
